Mid-Facelift in Memphis, TN with Dr. Phillip Langsdon
Age, genetics, and the everyday stressors of life can take a significant toll on the mid face, specifically the areas around the cheeks, lower eyelids, and nasolabial folds. Over time, these years lose their youthful volume and firmness faster than anywhere else on the face, neck, and body due to the underlying support structures weakening, leading to hollowed cheeks, deepening folds, and a tired or sagging appearance. Even individuals who are otherwise healthy and fit may notice these changes. Paradoxically, maintaining a lean figure or losing weight can make mid face aging more pronounced, as reduced facial fat accentuates skin laxity and drifting. Unfortunately, no amount of skin tightening creams or expensive jade rollers can restore the natural lift and contour once this process has begun.
A mid-facelift is a specialized surgical procedure designed to elevate and reposition the tissues of the cheeks and mid face. By restoring youthful firmness and smoothing the transition between the lower eyelids and cheeks, the procedure creates a refreshed, natural appearance.

What Is A Mid-Face Lift?
A mid-face lift treats the sagging of the upper cheeks and the surrounding area. The traditional facelift may fully improve the upper cheek and lower eyelid areas of the face, which often sink in, or flatten, and sag with age.
A mid-face lift elevates the upper cheek, improving fullness to the area below the eyes and upper cheeks, helping restore a refreshed fullness, more like that found in younger people. A mid-face lift is quicker than a traditional facelift. It can enhance the cheek bone area and improve the smile lines.
What Are the Benefits of a Mid-Facelift?
A mid-facelift offers a powerful yet subtle way to rejuvenate the central portion of the face, restoring youthful contours and natural balance without the need for a full facelift. By targeting the cheeks, lower eyelids, and nasolabial folds, this specialized procedure delivers noticeable improvements with minimal downtime.
• Restores Youthful Cheeks and Facial Volume
• Smooths Under-Eye Hollows and Folds
• Natural-Looking Results
• Shorter Recovery, Long-Lasting Improvements
• Confidence and Self-Image Boost
Who Is A Candidate For A Mid-Face Lift?
If a full facelift is not needed at the same time as a mid-face lift, only minimal incisions are needed around the hairline and ear. Sutures are then used to elevate the sagging upper cheek. Sometimes, a lower eyelid procedure may be needed to raise the muscle below the lower eyelid and reposition fat. The surgery usually takes about two hours and is performed under twilight IV sedation (with anesthesia like when undergoing a colonoscopy) and is done in an out-patient setting. Patients may return home when they leave the out-patient treatment facility

Your Recovery After Mid-Facelift Surgery
One of the advantages of a mid-facelift is that it is performed in an outpatient setting, allowing patients to return home the same day. However, you will need a trusted friend or family member to drive you home and assist you during the first 24 hours. For safety, patients should avoid driving for at least two days following their surgery.
During your initial recovery period, it is important to keep your head elevated at all times, including when resting or sleeping, to minimize swelling. Many patients find it helpful to sleep in a recliner or incline using a pillow for support. While you may resume light social activities after two weeks, some bruising and mild soreness are common. Makeup can be used to conceal bruising, and incisions will be healing discreetly in natural creases or hidden areas. Thanks to Dr. Langsdon’s meticulous technique, early results already appear natural and refreshed.
Strenuous activity should be avoided for the first couple of weeks to protect your healing tissues. Smoking should also be avoided before and after surgery, as it can interfere with circulation and slow recovery. It is normal to experience temporary numbness in the cheeks, firmness under the skin, or know-like sensations at the incision sites. These typically improve over several months, with most patients noticing steady progress between 5 to 6 months. In some cases, final results may take up to a year to fully settle, but your appearance will remain soft and rejuvenating throughout the healing process.
To help enhance and prolong your mid-facelift results, it is highly recommended to keep your skin hydrated, nourished, and protected through nutrition, hydration, sunscreen, and proper skincare. Dr. Langsdon may suggest medical-grade skincare products from our FaceMD line, designed to support facial volume, healing, nourishment, and maintaining a youthful glow.
